Programme Description

The RLF, a political educational organisation closely affiliated with DIE LINKE (The Left Party), assigns scholarships to international students of graduate level (BA) planning to study in Germany for a master's degree (MA). Citizens from EU-member countries or students with permanent residence in Germany as per BAföG § 8 with a first higher-education degree and very good knowledge of the German language are eligible to apply. The sponsorship is based upon the Foundation's political values, social justice and solidarity in particular.

Each year the Foundation awards between ten and 15 scholarships to students from abroad. The monthly basic scholarship consists of 850€ along with a lump sum of 20€. Additional subsidies for health and nursing insurance of no more than 109€ are also available.

Academic Requirements

  • enrolment at a German university (your admission must at least be documented by the time the scholarship would start)
  • Bachelor's degree certificate or proof of completion of basic study in case of a Diplom or Magister course or a programme leading to a state examination
  • proof of proficiency in German at a B 2 level at least

Duration

The funding covers the standard period of study in Germany; the maximum grant duration includes the standard study period and possible grant renewals.
